I traveled every month except for April
I visited something like 30 different cities, five US states, and four different countries
I took 32 flights, (if I counted correctly) and I have no idea how many miles that was
Only four of those trips were for work but they were all possible thanks to my job
I met around 90 new people
I was on my own only a handful of days, the rest I was always with someone
I drove seven cars that were not mine and I was in seven different time zones
I got so much closer to the friends I traveled with, I love them all
The most spontaneous - swimming with wild dolphins in Hawaii
The most overrated - the gum wall in Seattle (tourist trap)
The most delicious food - Tajin pina in Mexico and truffle pasta in France
The most random place - Oyster Museum in France
The cutest thing - turtle release at Puerto Vallarta & seals playing at Ho'okipa beach in Maui
Beautiful beaches - Lanikai, Kaanapali & Ho'okipa in Hawaii, Ana Maria Island in Tampa, Arcachon in France, and the beach at Tulum
The most colorful cities - Cap Ferret, France, and San Jose del Cabo & Todos Santos in Baja California
Something not to miss - The Road to Hana in Maui
The coolest museum - Cite du Vin in Bordeaux, France
Some hikes to remember: Crouching Lion & Pololu Trail in Hawaii and Ice Box Trail in Vegas
Top views - Summit Mauna Kea, Pillbox Hike, Anapanapas State Park, and Haleakalā (sunrise), all in Hawaii
Top Cafes: The Coffee Shack, Big Island, Cafe Lola, Vegas, Posada Margherita, Tulum, and Abreojos, San Jose
The best advice someone gave me - stay in San Jose del Cabo, not in Cabo San Lucas
Something that traumatized me - an AirBNB full of flies, around 50, that we had to kill one by one and a mouse I saw at the Houston airport after I had just eaten
Best hotel - Marisol Boutique Hotel in San Jose del Cabo, and of course, any and all Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara
So much fun - the last night in Paris
Hottest day - Las Vegas at 115 in June
Tips: Pay for a good carry-on, like Away, book only 8/10 or more-star hotels with breakfast included, choose VRBO over AirBNB, stick to AT&T for a reliable international phone plan, use Turo or Getaround to rent cars, pack light, and avoid hostels and rum at any cost...
2021 was such a trip...
